When God is Silent

I have recently started my senior year of high school. I've always dreamed of this year since I was a little girl, but now all I want to do is make it go away. I feel so unprepared, too young, and not ready. In less than a year I will be graduating high school, becoming an adult, moving out, starting college, and preparing my future. It's so crazy to think about! As you can imagine I have a ton of emotions about it. I'm scared for the next chapter of my life. What in the world am I supposed to do with my future?

Last year while on a mission trip to Chicago I felt the Lord calling me to be a missionary. Although I have been called I still don't know where God exactly wants me to minister at. Am I supposed to be a state-side missionary? Or am I supposed to do overseas missions? There's a bazillion questions still unanswered and it's a bit overwhelming. Whether its' your senior year or not, I think we can all relate to the feeling of unanswered questions. It can be very overwhelming, anxious, fearful, and annoying. What are we supposed to do when we are in a waiting season? When we feel like God is silent in our lives?

# 1: BE WHERE YOU ARE

This is probably one of the hardest things for us to learn, at least it was for me. Enjoy the season that God has you in and glorify Him in your current season of life. We need to be patient and wait on the Lord no matter how frustrating that can be. Philippians 4:11 (ESV) reads, "Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content." God knows what He is doing with you, trust Him. Serve God in the places you are in and ultimatly glorify Christ in all that you do.

#2: STAY IN THE WORD

God gave us His word as a way of communication with Him. Are you in His word while seeking an answer in your life? You can't expect to get a response from God if you aren't in His presence ready to recieve one. We often expect God to speak to us but we're searching in places that He isn't in for an answer. It's like going to a produce store tryng to buy a dog, you can't! If you want God to speak to you continue (or begin) studying His word. The word of God is a lamp for our feet, it will guide us and show us the next steps for us in life. Psalm 199: 105 (ESV), "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

#3: TRUST HIS PLAN

Maybe God is silent in your life for a reason. He may be trying to teach you something that you don't fully understand right now but will thank Him for in the future. God is the creator of the universe, trust that He will direct you. You are His child. He will not leave you, trust His process. I understand, it can be very hard to trust God especially when you really want an answer, but we have to practice patience. There is no one else I would rather direct my future than God, so I will trust His perfect plan and timing in my life. Proverbs 3:5 (ESV), "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

God gives us free will

I recently saw a video of a woman giving reasons on why God doesn't exsist. She said, "So surely, if God was real, he would want to do whatever it takes to save me, and yet He hasn't." What she was p
